Oral-B Meet and Greet with Jerry in Thailand
(This is the translation of the last 4 pages of Jerry in Thailand Photobook (printed in Thailand)
After starting the special campaign with the handsome presenter, Jerry Yan Cheng Xu, a former member of F4, in Hong Kong, Oral-B arranged the Meet & Greet Activities with Oral-B and Jerry in another 2 countries i.e. Malaysia and Thailand. Knowing about this activity to be held, his fans spared neither effort nor money in sending Oral-B packages to participate in the lucky draw. This was only for seeing his smile closely. As a result, there were more than 70,000 Oral-B packages sent for participation in the luck draw, which has 1,090 tickets for Meet & Greet Activity as a prize. There were winners and losers. Nevertheless, as expected, the ones who won several tickets sold some tickets for profit. The highest price was more than 10,000 Baht while the lowest as posted in the internet was 3,500 Baht. This proved this handsome presenter be still really hot.
His arrival was 12.15 p.m. on Dec. 2, 2005 by CI693. This was informed to the media and fans. It was also informed that he would come out from the gate via a normal route. So surprised! This was because in the past, when F4 came to Thailand, they have always used the VIP route or had a car to pick them up from the plane. It could be said that no one could see even their shadows at the airport. Thing changed for this time. Therefore, there were many reporters and fans going to welcome him at the airport. To be well-prepared, Jerry took off from CKS International Airport, Taipei, Taiwan in Oral-B clothes, a light blue linen shirt and white trousers, the same clothes as those worn during the activity in Hong Kong. With the temperature of lower than 10 degree Celsius in Taipei, those kinds of clothes did not protect him much from such a cold temperature. It was seen that Jerry hold himself all the way since entering to the airport.
After the plane landed, Jerry with sunglasses and staff came out from Gate 44 as the last group of passengers from that flight. When they appeared, the area became full of flash from cameras, screams and shouts of his name "Jerry". Some of his fans even went to welcome him in the immigration area. This handsome guy smiled all the way. After finishing the immigration procedures, they faced another group of fans. Jerry said "Sawasdee Krab" to them with a Thai greeting gesture. Similarly, when he came out from the arrival gate, he greet with a Thai gesture nicely (also stood still) and said "Sawasdee Krab" very clearly. After that, all the media ran to him to take photos chaotically. This made more than 10 security guards and under-covered polices working very hard to protect him. When Jerry walked pass the groups of his fans who tried to give him gifts or shake hand with him, he tried his best to accept the gifts and shake hand with everyone with smile. After struggling to successfully enter into the van, Jerry took off his sunglasses, opened the shades, made a Thai greeting gesture, waved his hand and smiled to his fans. This deeply impressed all his fans, especially his diehard fans. Then, Jerry and his staff checked in at Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel. They stayed in a suite room on 21st floor. It was heard that this hotel was selected because of its excellent security. Especially, it had many entrances and exits, therefore, it was very difficult for fans to chase. As to the activities on that day, it was rumored that he went to Sri Racha Tiger Zoo to shoot a short movie for Thailand tourism promotion arranged by Oral-B. However, this rumor was not confirmed. But, it was confirmed that he went to somewhere around the Peninsula Hotel to have a Thai dinner on the boat drifting along the Chao Phraya river. It was reported that he tried several Thai dishes. He liked sour and hot dishes like Tom Yam Goong (sour and hot shrimp soup), Pad Thai (Thai-style fried noodle). He was asked whether he was afraid that hot foods may not be good to the skin. He replied that he was not because his skin was highly resistant. He was happy with foods and with drifting along the river in the boat. Even though he was very full and sleepy, he tried not to let himself fall asleep. This was because he would like to appreciate the night view along the Chao Praya river.... It is like a child finding a right place to travel¡­ Therefore, Jerry and his staff came back to the hotel almost midnight.
On the next day, the scheduled activities were full throughout the day. This started from recording a TV program "Tee Nee Mochit" at 12.20 p.m., following by another TV program "Siam Square" at Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel. Only the staff from the TV programs were allowed to enter into the recording room. If you would like to know how they were, please follow up on those TV programs when they were on air. After finishing those two TV programs, Jerry and staff went to Horwang School to held "Oral-B Healthy Smile Secrets" Activity at Main Hall of Horwang School at around 14.30 p.m.
When the team arrived at Horwang School, there were about 500 fans waiting outside the school walls. Some even climbed on the walls. They all hoped to see their idol. Jerry seemed to know his fans' minds. When he got off the van, he turned to greet his fans with a Thai gesture and waved to all the fans outside the walls. This made his fans feel impressed again. As to the activity inside the Main Hall of the school, there were about 500 lower secondary school students selected to participate in this activity. Once Jerry entered into the Hall, the Hall was full of screams. He also walked through the aisle of the Hall to the stage. The security guards had to work very hard. Nevertheless, he could safely get on to the stage. He said "Sawasdee Krab" with a Thai greeting gesture and smiled very sweetly to the children. The screams came up again. In this activity, Tin Chokekamolkij was both the host and the translator himself. At the beginning, during a standard interview, Jerry was so shy that he picked up the tooth model to play. He said that during his school years, there was no singer or actor coming to the school like this. Then, the interview went on to the topic of oral care. As the healthy smile ambassador, he said that we should brush our teeth twice a day and after eating any foods, we should brush our teeth. He also said that teeth health and smile were very important because we had to smile first before getting to know each other. He also said sweet words to the children that the boys in this school were very lucky boys because all the girls in this school were very cute. Definitely, the Hall was full of screams after these words.
After the interview, he joined a game with 10 students who were selected by the dentists. Jerry said that the game was called "Yi Er San.... Nueng Song Sam (1 2 3)". His Thai when saying the numbers was very clear. The game required the players to put their hands on their heads when the host said 1, to put their hands on their shoulders when the host said 2 and to shake their waists when the host said 3. Before the game started, it was requested that Jerry show how to make each gesture as an example. He showed very cutely as requested. (Screams... again) After the game proceeded for a while, only one out of the total five teams failed. The host, then, decided to call the numbers himself. (Before that, Jerry was the one who called the numbers in Thai). As a result, Jerry was the one who failed (as he also joined the game). So, Jerry pretended to walk down from the stage. This raised a lot of laughter in the Hall. As awards for all the participants, Jerry gave pillows with his autograph (signed right on the stage) to all the participants. After that, they all shot the photos together. Jerry was so playful that he pinched the cheeks of the girls when taking the photo together. This made other students very jealous of those two girls.
Finishing the "Healthy Smile Secrets" Activity, Jerry went for the press conference held at Bangkok Convention Center, 4th floor, Central Department Store, Ladprao at 16.30 p.m. Before, Jerry appeared, Tin, the host, invited Mr. Chalermpong Mahawanichwong, the director of Gillette Thailand, to talk about this handsome presenter and the activities. After that, the host introduced Jerry to the press. He changed his clothes to a black suit with a white shirt. He looked very formal and still very very...handsome. He came out with his "close friend", which was a mascot (a tooth with toothbrush). Jerry introduced the mascot that "This is my best friend...Oral-B". The room was suddenly full of flash from cameras and sound of shutter clicks. The interview then started with the questions, most of which were pre-arranged by the organizer. Answering the first question, Jerry revealed his feeling in coming back to Thailand after more than a year that he was very glad to receive a warm welcome from his fans and the press. He also said that this visit changed his impression of Thailand. He felt that Thailand was more beautiful than he imagined. He was also very impressed with the characters of Thai people. When being asked the girl from which countries had the most impressive smile. He replied with an unbiased answer that "I think that when we smile to each other when we met, it is like we would like to make friends. Among several countries I've been, I think the girls from each country have their own unique smiles." Then, the press was given a chance to ask 3 questions. There was a question about "Star Jerry". Jerry refused to answer gently by saying that as this issue was sensitive, he would not like to talk too much about it. Then, there was a question whether there would be the next F4 concert in Thailand. Jerry replied with a question to check his popularity that "if it is held, will Thai people go to see?". The press seemed to temporarily forget their status as the press and answered as one voice that "I will". Jerry smiled very sweetly after hearing that. When being asked about the new TV drama "The Hospital", Jerry said that it was now 60% completed but he still did not know when it would be fully completed. He said a joke that if you would really like to know, you had to ask the director. Tin, the host, took a joke and said that "So we have to call the director now". All the people there laughed very loudly. When being asked about his skinner figure, Jerry said that he tried to eat more to raise his weight. He also said that he was now working very hard and put very large effort in it, he hoped that his fans would still encourage him. The press, again, seemed to forget their status as the press, and said that "definitely". Jerry smiled very sweetly again. The atmosphere was very pleasant for both the interviewers and the interviewee. When taking photos, Jerry also played with the tape recorder with "Vanness Wu" sticker on it. Then, it came the fans' long-waiting activity, "Oral-B Smile Party with Jerry" at Bangkok Convention Center, 5th floor. The door was opened about an hour late from the schedule. But this seemed not to discourage Jerry's fans, which consisted of both Thai and overseas e.g. Hong Kong, China, Japan, Vietnam. The fans gradually entered into the hall and were very eager to see their idol. About 19.00 p.m., the host, Tin, appeared and greeted with fans. He said that it had already been more than a year that we had not met this guy. Then, he urged the fans to shout "Jerry, Jerry, Jerry". When Jerry appeared on the stage in a black turtle-necked sweatshirt, black trousers and a brown leather jacket, the hall was full of screams. He greet the fans with a Thai gesture and said "Sawasdee Krab", following by a sweet smile, the smile by which many ladies said they were almost melt down. This made the screams continue for quite a while. Tin greet Jerry in Chinese "Jerry, Ni hao" and turned to the audience asking "It's been more than a year that we have not met him, hasn't it? Do you miss him?". Everyone answered "miss him". Unexpectedly, Jerry replied in Thai immediately that "I also miss you". This reply not only raised another wave of the screams, but also won the hearts of all young and old ladies in the hall. Then, Tin said that on that day, Jerry did not feel so well, his voice was a bit lost. This was because recently, he had to shoot the TV drama all the days but he split the time to join this Meet & Greet Activity with fans. The first activity was inviting the fans to sing a song "One Metre" in his first solo album. It was rumored that the fans who joined this singing were pre-selected by the organizer because all of them were representatives from each of Jerry fanclubs. Anyway, all 5 of them could sing Jerry's song (although some may a little bit be lost in some part) and did not disappoint Jerry who stood beside to encourage them with a big smile. Especially, a pretty long-haired girl with very fair skin, one of the five, obtained a special encouragement from Jerry, who walked to touch her arm and said "fighting" in Thai to her. The screams were so loud that it seemed that the hall would collapse. After singing, all the participants received pillows with autograph from Jerry as a souvenir. All of them also took photos together. After listening to the singing by the fans, Jerry, the original singer of this song, sang this song "One Metre" for fans. Even though his weak health somehow affected his voice, Jerry still expressed the feeling of the song very well. Fans also sang along very loudly.
The second activity was a puzzle box game i.e. to sort the boxes to form a Jerry Oral-B picture as shown on the selected picture card. When selecting the participants via lucky draws, Jerry requested to make a draw himself and read the lucky seat numbers in Thai by himself. This raised a lot of laughter. There were 12 participants divided into 3 teams. The first team had Jerry join the team with his full effort but it became the team that took the longest to complete. The host joked about it that this was because the team members only looked at Jerry's face most of the time so they proceeded very slowly. Therefore, he did not allow Jerry to join the second team and let him stand beside for encouragement only. Jerry, nevertheless, held the picture card for them. But, he could not help directing the team how to sort. As to the last team, after holding the picture card for a while, he could not help joining the team in sorting the boxes. The result was the second team was the winner and received pillows with Jerry's autograph. The other teams received T-shirts with Jerry's autograph. All of them, then, took the photos together. The third activity was to find Oral-B toothbrushes in the large box, which was filled with small pieces of foams. Jerry continued to be the one who made a draw and read the lucky seat numbers. In this game, a team consisted of 2 members. One had to say "Oral-B" and draw the B sound as long as she could while the other would find the required Oral-B toothbrush in the large box before the B sound finished. In this game, the last lucky seat number drawn was the luckiest one because Jerry would join a team with her and be the one who made the Oral-BBBBBB sound for her. Even though he had a sore throat, he tried his best to draw the B sound as long as he could until he almost sat on the floor. This, again, won the hearts of the fans. Furthermore, Jerry was also brought to both sides of the stage in order to be closer to the fans. Jerry greet the fans with "Hello, Sawasdee Krab, I miss you" (in Thai). Another wave of the screams came again.
After that, Jerry went down the stage for a rest. A girl was called to come on to the stage. Her nickname was "Pang". She got a birthday surprise as that day was her birthday. Jerry brought a birthday cake to the stage himself and sang the birthday song together with all the fans for her. After surprising the girl, Jerry was then surprised by 3 lucky fans, who brought a birthday cake to the stage to celebrate his birthday in advance. (His birthday is Jan 1, 2006.) Everyone in the hall sang the birthday song for him in Chinese "Zhu Ni Sheng Ri Kuai Le, Zhu Ni Sheng Ri Kuai Le, Zhu Ni Sheng Ri Kuai Le, Zhu Ni Sheng Ri Kuai Le". The hall was full of the sound of the birthday song. There were also small pieces of colorful papers showering from the ceiling. It could be noticed that Jerry smiled very happily. The last surprise was Jerry asked the lady, who wrote a story about him, to come on to the stage. Her pen name was Auntie Pan. All the Jerry's diehard fans knew she was the same person as Khun Yay Ood Jung (Granny Ood). She revealed that her intention in writing this book was to let the people know the story about Jerry's life and take him as a good role model. This was because Jerry was born in a poor family but was very patient and worked hard to make his life better. He experienced many difficulties before he was as he was today. Jerry concentrated on what the translator translated for him all the time. Finally, he gave a pillow with his autograph as a souvenir to Auntie Pan. There were shouts from downstage requesting him to hug Auntie Pan. He followed the request right away with love and thank. Then, he walked along with her to send her down from the stage. His gentleness and warmth could be apparently seen from his manner. Then, the host said that the event came to the last part. Jerry, then, sang the last song for his fans, "Wo Shi Zhen De Zhen De Hen Ai Ni", which means "I really really love you". His fans would also like to send this message to him. Therefore, everyone in the hall sang this song together. When Jerry realized this, he also stretched his arm to send the microphone to the fans. The very loud and united sound of the song from all the fans there made him so touched that his tears were in his eyes. (If anybody could take that shot, it was quite apparent.) After singing, he said thanks to the fans and told the host that he and other F4 members would come here soon before he went down the stage. Unsurprisingly, some of fans cried while the other smiled happily. But all were very touched by their idol.
Finally, on Dec. 4, 2005, Jerry had to fly back to Taiwan to continue shooting his TV drama in Kaoshiung by flight CI 694 at 13.35 p.m. Actually, the flight was not publicly disclosed. But, with their efforts, the fans knew. There was also a rumor that Jerry would check out from the VIP route pre-arranged by Oral-B staff in Thailand. However, around 12.55 p.m., Jerry arrived at the departure terminal 2 at the airport in a Mercedes van, followed by a large group of the security guards. About 500 fans waiting at the airport stood in a line orderly on both sides. However, once Jerry entered through the door, the chaos started. Some foreign passengers were shocked and asked each other "who is he?". Due to the chaos, Jerry had a little accident but he was still in good mood and waved to the fans. After he struggled to successfully enter into the immigration area, the airport officers outside complained that this was the most chaotic situation at this airport. During waiting for the flight, Jerry and his staff took a rest in the China Airline lounge. It was told that actually there were the seats in a hidden corner prepared for him and his staff. But, he requested to take the seat in the area that people outside the lounge could see him easily. I did not want to think for my own favor but I really felt that Jerry knew what his fans wanted. At first, he sat on the seat that people from outside could see his face easily. However, he was then asked by his staff to change the seat so people from outside could then see only his side. His appetite was quite good. After 6 small pieces of sandwiches, he had Mama Tom Yam Goong flavored cup noodle. He had the noodle and the shrimps first then drank all the soup. He really enjoyed it. After that, he also had watermelon, then was back to sandwiches again. He also read the newspapers and chitchat with his staff happily. The fans waiting outside also enjoyed looking at him. Five minutes before the plane taking off, Jerry and his staff walked to the Gate. Jerry smiled and waved to his fans who called his name all the way to Gate 44. Before, he entered the Gate, he turned back and looked at his fans for good bye. All the fans also looked at him until he walked out of their sights. It was reported that he left Thailand with a good impression. In the eyes of several overseas fans who came to join this activity, they viewed that from his smile and manner, Jerry looked very happy. If this is true, his fans will be very happy because they have also waited for this day for so long.

Jerry Yan, Saying Byebye to Management again
Earlier on, Jerry Yan seek for help from his manager, Liu Wei Ci to help him on settling his going solo arrangements. However, their working together have secretly ended last week. Liu Wei Ci said, "I merely helped him for a period of time at first. My company is really busy and i really can't cope. I don't wish to hold him up because of that, so i shifted it."As a popular one is Asia, every move of Jerry is being watched. First, he started the office of Star Jerry and got Liu Wei Ci to help out. However, such things are still sensitive, as they didn't have time to communicate, Liu Wei Ci decided to withdraw and shifted all the work back to Jerry. Liu Wei Ci said, "At first, we said we'll wait till he finish fliming The Hospital. But, looking at the situation, they won't be able to finish even in Jan, adding that i have many things to settle in my company, we have to compromise one another."Liu Wei Ci expressed, a management job actually needs lots of communication time and you need the same idea. However, they don't even have time to meet up, causing the difficulties in their job.Currently, Jerry's jobs are handled by his good friend, Mi Ya. She said, "We are also only helping for the time being, he'll do a change and hand up something after he finishes fliming and does it on his own, to see if he'll allow the office to help him set up his future road."


JERRY YAN from prince to an ordinary man...
An idol often rises immediately from a management's plan, the package turning far away with an illusion of a prince that can't be reached, playing mysteriously not only to the media, but even more to fans - the more distant the more beautiful. Yan Cheng Xu is not just the birthday star of the New Year Day, as Meteor Garden's F1, Baolong has won the popularity of being the No. 1 idol drama actor.
Although he has high poularity throughout Asia, Yan Cheng Xu has maintained his Capricorn style of being hardworking and low profiled. With his suddenly increased income and popularity, he didn't become conceited or boastful , but instead, he has maintained his Capricorn personality of being depressed, introspective, conservative, frugal, and insecure.
It doesn't matter how many scripts and money have been offered to him, Yan Cheng Xu picks his projects very carefully. As long as he is devoted, he is very serious. Recently, when filming WT directed by Cai Yue Xun, staffs can see with their own eyes how he has set a perfect standard on himself, almost to the point of exaction. As he was afraid of having greasy lips and bad breath, this male lead surprisingly didn't eat for three consecutive days except drinking some water. Because of the filming of WT, Yan Cheng Xu would spend his birthday at work. He indicates that he always keeps a low key on his birthday, "I am very reserved. His popularity continues to be strong, Jerry one of F4.A phenomenon which was created and recorded in the Thai entertainment industry is Meteor Garden. No one doesn't know "Dao Ming Sue" played by this guy, Jerry Yan. In addition, being an endorser of several commercial ads, Jerry is the only Taiwanese star in Thailand whose popularity has never dropped. His latest work is the shooting "The Hospital" drama. With the right timing, he is now in preparation recording new songs with his F4 friends. The launching of new album under F4 is likely to be true and so we can expect to listen to their songs from their new album by 2006.

Not only he joined the promotional activities with schoolgirls, an up close meet & greet party was also organized for those lucky fan clubs.Schoolgirls of Horwang school beamed a smile with pleasure as they were the first group who had participated in the first activity with a gorgeous Jerry. Despite my healthy is not a hundred percent, but my spirit is hundred percent. (smile)Spicy : Save for the promotional activities, do you have time to visit some other tourist attractions?Jerry : I went to Tiger Park (smile). I have seen it from the documentary tv programe and it interests me. So when I came to Thailand again, I strongly decided to visit this place. As I imagined, it was so fun and impressive. I even got myself taken a photo with a tiger. I really like it. (laugh)Spicy : Apart from being the Oral B smile ambassador, do you have any other work?Jerry : Mainly on shooting the drama and singing. Giving interview and photo shooting from time to time. Let¡¯s say I am quite busy lately.Spicy : When fans will get to see your new drama? Is it nearly finished?Jerry : Umm almost done. It has been shot so far 60%. Expected to be on air next year. You have to wait a little bit.
